TRANSPORTATION AND SIGHTSEEING IN BARCELONA
Barcelona's transport system is convenient and efficient. Barcelona is an easy city to get around and here you have a little sample of its main transportation networks:
Metro (Subway, undergroud)
There are five lines identifiable by number and colour. The closest metro line to Hotel Royal Ramblas is line 3 or green line and the station is Catalunya. All the trains are comfortable and air conditioned in summer.
There are several travel fares: single fare is 1.30 EUR, a 10 ticket strip is 7.20 EUR. There are also one, two, three or five day travel cards very useful for getting around quickly if you are in the city only for a short time.
Open Monday to Thursday, Sundays and bank holidays from 5.00 am to 24.00. Fridays, Saturdays and Holiday eves from 5.00 am to 02.00 am.

Although there is a lot of traffic in the city, the bus system has exclusive use of special reserved bus lanes. The bus is the best way to travel around Barcelona if you want to see where you are going, and do some sightseeing. Bus services cover the whole city and run daily from 06.00 am to 23.30 approximately.
The ticket fare are the same as Metro and special tickets and travel cards are valid for both metro and bus.
The night buses services are called Nitbus and they also cover the main city streets.

Barcelona taxis are all black and yellow. If they are available, you will see a green light on top of the car and a sign on the windscreen. They can be ordered by phone.
Once you are in, the driver must turn on the meter. The ride starts with a 1.90 EUR minimum fare and 1 EUR approx. per kilometre. There are supplements for airport (3.10 EUR) or port (2 EUR) service and luggage (1 EUR). You can check the current fares posted inside the taxi. Night fares are more expensive.

Barcelona's Tourist Bus takes you along 3 routes that include the most interesting sights. There are one and two day tickets available and there is a tourist guide on board who keeps you informed on where you are and what you can see and do. The Tourist Bus has a stop at Plaça Catalunya, only few steps from Royal Ramblas Hotel.

This comfortable blue bus takes you to and from the airport of Barcelona every 15 minutes with stops at Plaça Catalunya, Passeig de Gracia and Plaça Espanya. It takes 30 minutes one way approximately.

This is the train network on Barcelona. Local rail services link Barcelona with the towns in its metropolitan area. There is a train station at Plaça Catalunya (50 metres from Hotel Royal Ramblas). The main train station is Sants Station with trains that connect Barcelona to the main cities of Spain.

Bicycle paths are separated from other traffic by a continuous white line. There are more than 100 kilometres of Bicycle paths and this is the best way to enjoy a close look at Barcelona's architecture as well as the atmosphere of its streets. You can rent a bicycle and make an interesting tour around the city.
